In 1968 Anton LaVey and the Church of Satan released the first recording of an authentic Satanic ritual, performed in the notorious Black House, home of the Church of Satan for over thirty years. Anton LaVey (1930-1997) was the founder and High Priest until his death. This recording was originally released on Murgenstrumm Records in 1968 and then re-released on CD in 1996. This is the first time it has been available on vinyl since the initial release. This record also features Dr. LaVey reading selections from The Satanic Bible. This disk is a reissue of that album and is limited to 999 copies. It has extensive liner notes and a bonus track. Adversary Recordings has made an agreement with the record label Amarillo, who first issued it on CD, to make it available once again.The first track is The Satanic Mass, performed in the building that served as the home and original location of the Church of Satan led by Anton LaVey on Friday the 13th in September of Year III Anno Satanas .
Tracks 2-7 are of LaVey reciting selections from the Satanic Bible, much of which was inspired by Ragnar Redbeard's book “Might Is Right”.
There is a bonus track not on the original vinyl release called “The Hymn of the Satanic Empire, or The Battle Hymn of the Apocalypse”. You can find the score of this song in LaVey’s “The Devil’s Notebook”.
